Located on a small expansion shelf about midway between the Third and Fourth Circles, Musical Hell is presided over by Diva, a minor demon charged with passing judgement on the worst musicals ever committed to film. (She still hasn't figured out if this is their punishment or hers.) Take a seat on the bench and have your earplugs ready, because court is now in session.

Musical Hell COMMENTARY: Phantom of the Opera

Time to go behind the scenes of my weirdness again, with a commentary track for the Phantom of the Opera episode.

  1. I'd love to see you do a commentary for Love Never Dies.

    1. I definitely have plans to do a commentary track for the LND episode, but I can't say precisely when that will happen. Commentaries tend to be "pick up" installments that I do when scheduling issues prevent a regular episode.

  2. Kristin Chenoweth as Carlotta? That's interesting and I can't believe I didn't think of that. Some other choices I think would work are Audra McDonald, Bernadette Peters, and maybe Keala Settle. Sierra Boggess would be PERFECT as a movie Christine today. Her voice is phenomenal (The only voices I think are better are Whitney Houston and especially Judy Garland) and I feel like her style of stage acting would translate really well to the film style of acting. Also, how would you have felt if they had cast Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway as Phantom and Christine because they were considered for the roles? Unfortunately, Anne Hathaway couldn't be in the movie due to being under contract by Disney and had to be in the sequel to Princess Diaries. Also, do you think that maybe if the film was made today that Jackie Evancho or Anneliese van der Pol (Know as the last Belle on Broadway for Beauty and the Beast) would be good choices to be cast as Christine?
